Hello ALL!  So excited to share my first recap from… Rewrite Your Rules Los Angeles tour w/ Morgan DeBaun, Blavity Inc. CEO and actress/comedian Yvonne Orji!  The book launch event took place Friday April 4, at NeueHouse Hollywood and the room was PACKED. 

 

 

So many funny moments with  Yvonne Orji who kept the discussion so light & delightful… and many gems shared by Morgan as she builds her empire.  One thing really stood out for me… I’m not quoting verbatim because I missed recording it (ugh!!!)… but Morgan talked about how she understood some of her limitations in the tech world… which included being a black female and she didn’t have a lot of experience. Part of her solution?!?!!… she simply brought people onboard who fulfilled those limits. LOL, I understand this may not have been a life changing tip for some… but for me… it was like lighting had struck. It finally dawned on me “You don’t have to wear every hat.. find the resources & team to build… and get your seat at the table.”   Thank you MORGAN!!!

This female entrepreneur is also “happily” busy as a new mom but found the time to compile her knowledge & experiences into a masterpiece we can all learn from. I met Morgan a few years ago at her AfroTech annual conference.…  4 day weekend of learning from dynamic speakers, panel discussions and demonstrations by leading technology companies.  I was so fascinated how she grew the event bigger and better each year… and grateful I was able to participate as one of the team photogs. 🙂
