Congrats to comedian Rickey Smiley who celebrated the launch of his Hulu comedy special “Fool-ish” with celebrity friends in LA! This is his first comedy special in over a decade and will premiere on May 30th!! Directed by David Talbert, the special was shot in his hometown of Birmingham, AL at the iconic Lyric Theater.
Ya’ll… I had THEE best time covering this event. For starters… Rickey was the first guest to arrive. I couldn’t believe he got there so early… and he was so gracious allowing me to get all of the shots needed before the red carpet opening. The event was held at Hollywood Improv and the decor was absolutely stunning. Take a look at how the team created this beautiful tent/room from a parking lot!! They even added a special touch with all the throwback sweets like 100 Grand bars and candy cigarettes. (Pics are from my iPhone)

After the carpet… Rickey gave opening remarks before the screening. Ya’ll I was on the floor when he invited comedian Lunell on the stage. They would certainly make a wonderful pair on the road.
